How to make Beetroot Raita

Step 1: Cook the beetroots until tender

To make this delicious beetroot raita, cook the beetroot by steaming or boiling it until it turns very soft. To check if the beetroot is cooked, stab the point of a knife. If the knife easily goes in, the vegetable is cooked and ready to be used in raita. Peel and chop the beetroots and keep it aside.

Step 2: Mix spices in the curd and stir in cooked beetroots

Next, take curd in a mixing bowl. Add roasted cumin powder, red chilli powder and salt to it. Blend the ingredients well until the curd is smooth and the spices are incorporated. Now add chopped beetroots to the the curd and start stirring. You will observe a pink coloured curd being formed. Place the bowl in the fridge to cool.   • 3/4 teaspoon spice chili powder
  • salt as required
  • 3/4 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  • 3 cup yoghurt (curd)
