Navratri Special Sabudana Kheer Recipe
During fasting, most people tend to indulge in the Saatvik diet i.e., dishes made without onion & garlic. Only a few foods are allowed during the fasting period and one such delicious food is sabudana or sago. It’s a starch or natural grain that people can eat during the fasting period. It is also a famous dish that is prepared for Ram Navami. So, here we are with a delicious kheer that’s made with sago and it’s just mind-blowing. How to make Sabudana Kheer
Step 1 – Wash and soak the Sabudana properly
Wash the sabudana (sago) pearls properly in running water to separate the starch from them. Now, take a bowl and soak the sabudana pearls in it with some water for 3-4 hours. Drain the water.
Step 2 – Boil it with the milk and add sugar
Put a pan over medium flame, add in the milk and keep stirring it till the quantity is reduced to half. Next, add in the sugar and keep stirring then add in the washed sabudana along with cardamom and saffron strands. Boil the kheer and cover the lid.
Step 3 – Let it simmer and serve!
Let the kheer simmer for 20 minutes. Keep stirring in between. Once ready, garnish with chopped dried fruits. Sabudana kheer is ready to be served.

- 250 gm sago
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 handful almonds
- 7 saffron
- 1 litre milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 4 green cardamom
