How to make Coconut Rice
Step 1 – Boil rice
For making this coconut rice recipe, boil the rice with salt in a deep pan over medium flame and drain the excess water when it is cooked.
Step 2 – Temper the dals
Heat oil in a kadhai over medium flame and add mustard seeds in it when the oil is hot. When mustard seeds begin to splutter, add curry leaves, chana dal and urad dal. Fry till the dals turn golden brown in colour.
Step 3 – Sauté coconut in this dal tempering
Put the green chillies, ginger and grated coconut and saute for 2 minutes.
Step 4 – Toss boiled rice in the tempering and serve hot
Finally, add boiled rice in the kadhai and toss well to mix all the ingredients. Then, sprinkle some coriander leaves on the top and serve hot!

- 250 gm basmati rice
- 2 tablespoon coconut oil
- 6 curry leaves
- 1 teaspoon urad dal
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped ginger
- salt as required
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon chana dal
- 1 tablespoon green chilli
- 1 cup grated coconut

- 1/2 cup finely chopped coriander leaves
